The Philosophy of The Equipping Bible

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable
for teaching, for reproof, for correction,
and for training in righteousness,
that the man of God may be complete,
equipped for every good work.

~ 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

  • Scripture is:

    • the inerrant Word of God.
    • sufficient for salvation and 'every good work'.
    • understandable, as that was God's purpose in giving it to us.
  • The Holy Spirit is responsible for guiding believers to God's Truth.

We must be careful not to impose our interpretation but to let Scripture speak for itself with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
  • Let Scripture interpret Scripture:  Essential teachings are established in multiple places.

If Scripture is ambiguous in one place, look to another for clarification.  This is where The Equipping Bible comes in handy, directing believers to other verses that touch on the same doctrine.

And, if you find that your interpretation conflicts with clear teaching elsewhere in the Bible, you need to re-think that interpretation.  Unclear teachings may fall under the category of things Paul calls 'disputable matters' in Romans 14:1 ... but all essential teachings are found in multiple places, threaded throughout Scripture and forming a coherent whole.
